Using state-of-the-art laser technology, unsightly veins can be quickly and safely eliminated at Epsom Skin Clinics. Spider veins in the face or legs can have a negative impact on a person’s appearance, undermining self-confidence, but a couple of laser treatments can remove dark, jagged marks and restore a fresh, clear complexion. A patch test will be necessary before treatment.
Spider veins, also known as thread veins, are small, unsightly visible blood vessels near to the surface of the skin. They most commonly appear on the skin of the face, especially around the nose, and on the legs.
Those who suffer from rosacea often have enflamed or excessive veins in the skin of the face, resulting in excess redness and unsightly blemishes.
Capillaries can break, often due to injury, and much like thread veins can remain as visible marks in the skin.
Visible veins lying near the surface of the skin can leave aesthetically unappealing blemishes in the epidermis.
Visible veins have been treated and removed, for a clearer complexion.
Vein removal treatment uses laser and Intense Pulsed Light energy to target the pigment in the blood of the vein to be removed. The pigment absorbs the light and collapses the vein, which is absorbed by the body’s lymphatic system and eliminated naturally.
Everyone responds differently to treatments, with some clients needing only one treatment and others as many as three. The usual treatment interval is 6 – 8 weeks for leg veins and 2 – 4 weeks for facial veins. We will assess the treatment areas during your consultation and advise on an effective treatment plan.
The energy is delivered through a handheld device with a cooling tip to protect your skin, minimising any discomfort. Some clients feel a sensation like the flicking of a rubber band across the skin. If treating larger red and blue veins we apply prescription topical anaesthetic cream 30 – 60 minutes before treatment.
Most treatments take between 15 – 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated.
The visible vein will either dramatically fade or completely disappear during the treatment. Some vessels might temporarily swell as they react to the treatment, but this should subside within hours or a few days at most. The healing process takes between 2 and 8 weeks, depending on the client and on careful following of aftercare advice. Once healing is complete, you can expect a radical reduction or complete removal of visible veins in the treated areas.
