WHAT ARE VERRUCA AND WARTS?

Warts and verrucae are growths that develop on the skin, stemming from a virus called Human Papilloma (HPV). The difference in appearance is down to pressure – the sole of your foot pressing against an instance of the virus pushes it back within the skin where it becomes a verruca.

FACE

Warts can occur on the skin of the face, having a negative impact on a person’s appearance and potentially their confidence.

HANDS

Warts commonly occur on the knuckles, fingers, and skin of the hands. Because they are contagious, this can interfere with day-to-day manual activities, including shaking hands.

FEET

Verrucae are essentially warts on the feet, appearing as dark spots on the skin. Verrucae can be painful and because they are contagious, can hinder sporting and bathing activities.

FAQS ABOUT VERRUCA AND WARTS

The tiny blood vessels inside a wart or verruca are targeted by a laser. By heating up the blood in a focussed, localised area, the blood vessels are destroyed. Without a blood supply, the wart or verruca dies and falls off.

Because the wart is killed off by destroying its blood supply, scarring is very unlikely.

Laser treatments are quick and moderately painless. You might feel some mild discomfort, but the laser does not generally cause pain. Some clients with sensitive skin benefit from the use of topical numbing cream prior to treatment.
