WHAT ARE PIGMENTATION AND REDNESS?

Though pigmentation can be caused by a variety of factors, it is most often the result of sun damage causing variable melanin production, leaving darker patches, marks, or blotches, resulting in an uneven skin tone. Redness can also be caused by sun-damage, or other forms of damage to the skin. At Epsom Skin Clinics, we offer the industry-leading Q-Tone Laser Facial to treat pigmentation and redness. As part of our duty of care, a patch test will be required 24 hours prior to treatment.

FAQS ABOUT PIGMENTATION AND REDNESS

The Q-tone Laser Facial is performed using the sophisticated QX MAX laser. We use two low energy settings (Q-Switch Nd:YAG 1064nm and KTP 532nm) to treat sun damage, redness and pigmentation, while stimulating the production of collagen and elastin for supple, younger looking skin.

During the first stage of treatment, Q-Switch Nd:YAG laser energy penetrates deep into the skin, shattering any dermal pigmentation, which will be naturally absorbed and processed by the body. A secondary effect of this stage is deep dermal heating, which stimulates the formation of elastin, resulting in a firmer, more even-looking skin tone. The second stage of treatment uses the KTP 532nm frequency to target superficial pigmentation and redness in the skin.

Prior to treatment one of our aesthetic clinicians will consult with you to check you are suitable for treatment and assess your skin using our Observ Skin Analysis. A patch test will be performed to ensure your skin will tolerate the treatment.

The treatment uses low frequency energy, and we apply cool air throughout to ensure your skin is not overheated. Our clients tell us the treatment is comfortable.

Each treatment takes 30 minutes.

We recommend a course of 3-4 treatments for optimal results, spaced at 4 weekly intervals.

You will begin to see results about a week after your first treatment, and after a course of treatment you can expect to see an improvement in skin texture, tone, and pigmentation.
