WHAT ARE VARICOSE VEINS?

Varicose veins occur in the superficial veins of the leg. These veins have a system of valves which should ensure the blood runs from the legs back up to the heart. Varicose veins occur when these valves fail, allowing blood to run back into the veins of the leg, blocking the veins and causing them to dilate and become varicosed. Varicose veins are highly unsightly and can undermine self-confidence.

LEGS

Varicose veins develop in the legs. As well as being unpleasant to look at they carry the risk of bleeding and other complications. Varicose veins hinder good circulation.

FAQS ABOUT VARICOSE VEINS

As well as being unsightly, varicose veins can also have serious consequences such as bleeding, skin irritation, and ulceration. They are best treated before they reach this stage. Epsom Skin Clinics are working with Mr Gary Maytham of Maytham Vascular to provide our varicose vein removal service using ERFA.

Epsom Skin Clinics use Endovenous Radio Frequency Ablation (ERFA) to safely remove varicose veins in a minimally invasive, walk-in walk-out treatment. ERFA is a procedure where radio frequency energy is delivered to the faulty vein, collapsing it from within. The body naturally absorbs and eliminates the collapsed vein through its ordinary waste disposal processes.

There are many veins in the leg. After treatment, the body naturally re-routes blood-flow through other healthy veins.

An average ERFA procedure takes 60 minutes.

Normal activities can be resumed immediately after ERFA treatment, with the exception of rigorous exercise.
