What causes excessive hair growth?
Every year in the UK we spend millions of pounds on hair removal products. For many patients removing excess hair is a luxury to make everyday life a little bit easier. However there are certain medications and medical conditions such as Hirsutism and Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which can cause excessive hair growth.
How do treatments work?
There are about 5 million hair follicles in the human body, and not all of them are at the same stage of hair growth. Every hair goes through four stages of growth; anagen, catagen, telogen and exogen. It is only during the anagen, or growth phase, of the hair that permanent hair reduction treatments can destroy hair at its root and therefore prevent any new growth.
