Micro Skin Needling
Medical skin needling has been well established at Epsom Skin Clinics for some time offering great results in the treatment for acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, open pores and sun damaged skin. As technology has advanced we have moved away from the traditional hand held Rollers and now use an electronic device called The FNS Pen. This device allows our Aesthetic Therapists to safely and effectively treat conditions whilst achieving better results than ever before. The FNS Pen uses patented automated micro-needling technology to induce the replication of your skin stem cells and stimulate your collagen production.
How does it work?
The FNS Pen penetrates your skin with thousands of microscopic needle columns, which encourages the skin’s natural repair process. As your skin regenerates, new collagen and skin cells are formed and blood supply is enhanced.
Does it hurt?
Even though the FNS Pen will be penetrating your skin more times than a hand held roller, clients have expressed that it is less painful due to the speed at which the microscopic needles move at.
How many Micro-Needling treatments do I need?
Although most clients report looking fresher and rested after a few days following treatment, it can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen. The process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement. Your practitioner will normally recommend a series of 3 – 6 treatments with approximately 6 weeks between them. For the treatment of acne scars and other types of scarring it may be necessary to extend your treatment course.
What should I expect immediately post Micro-Needling treatment?
Immediately after the procedure you will look as though you have mild to moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This will subside after 3 - 4 hours with only slight redness the next day. The therapist will advise a regime of carefully selected products to use at home to ensure the skin is protected following the treatment. SPF50 is applied immediately after the procedure and should be continued throughout your treatment course. It is recommended that makeup should not be applied for 12 hours after the procedure and to avoid any heat including hot baths, showers or exercise.
How long does the Micro-Needling treatment take?
Treatment times vary for each area, 30 minutes for a face and up to 60 minutes for face, neck and décolletage. A topical anaesthetic is applied 30 minutes before the treatment time to make the treatment more comfortable.
