EMSELLA

Urinary incontinence is a common condition which occurs when your pelvic floor muscle is weakened. For many women this is common after having children or when we reach the menopause, and for others it is a natural part of the ageing process, but that doesn’t mean we have to put up with it. Emsella pelvic floor therapy uses electromagnetic energy to cause a pelvic floor contraction that is much deeper than can be achieved through exercise, strengthening the pelvic floor against urinary leaks.

PELVIC FLOOR

The pelvic floor muscle underpins the bottom of the pelvis and supports the bladder, bowel, and uterus (in women). The weakening of this dome-shaped muscle causes urinary incontinence, and the strengthening of it has the opposite effect, effectively treating this inconvenient and potentially embarrassing concern.

FAQS ABOUT EMSELLA

The electromagnetic contractions caused by the technologically advanced Emsella chair are far more powerful and frequent than we can achieve through exercise, delivering thousands of supramaximal contractions per session to strengthen the pelvic floor muscle. One of the fantastic features of this state-of-the-art technology is that it works without having to remove a single item of clothing. The energy is targeted at the weakened pelvic muscle through your clothing, and all you have to do is sit back and relax.

As the muscle contracts you will feel a slight tingling feeling, and this sensation builds throughout the treatment. This non-invasive treatment is not considered painful, but your BTL Emsella specialist will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns you might have before, during, and after treatment.

Each session takes 30 minutes and every client will have a minimum of 6 treatments. We usually recommend that all 6 treatments be completed over the space of 2 weeks, but recognise that if you have your period midway through treatment, a pause will be necessary that won’t undermine the effectiveness of the course.

As this is a non-invasive treatment there is no downtime needed, and you can resume your daily activities immediately.

Emsella Pelvic Floor Therapy is designed for women struggling with urinary incontinence, so if you do experience leaks throughout the day, this treatment will be right for you. The only exceptions are pregnant women and people who have an inorganic implant such as a pacemaker. Before your treatment we will discuss your medical history to make sure you are suitable for treatment.

Clinical studies by the National Association For Continence showed a loss of intimacy in 45% of women suffering from urinary incontinence. If you think your urinary incontinence is causing intimacy issues with your partner, then strengthening the pelvic floor muscles and reducing the incontinence with BTL Emsella will help improve this.

Though Emsella significantly speeds up the process of strengthening a muscle, it still works on the same principle of exercise and maintenance. Your pelvic floor muscle will become increasingly stronger over the course of a few weeks, with optimal results achieved after around 6 months. Beyond that, we advise clients who take advantage of this transformative therapy to continue to perform pelvic floor exercises as part of their lifestyle, while bearing in mind that they can return to the clinic for maintenance treatments if they notice incontinence returning.
