What causes Warts & Verrucae?
Warts & Verrucae are caused by a virus called Human Papilloma (HPV). When you contract the virus on your hands and face, a small “cauliflower” like growth appears which we all commonly know as a wart. When the virus breaks out on the sole of your foot, the pressure on the sole of your foot from daily activities does not allow the virus to grow outwards so gets pushed back into the skin becoming a verruca.
